يعدّ اختبار الكفاءة في اللغة اليابانية “Japanese Language Proficiency Test” المعروف بـ JLPT أشهر اختبارات اللغة اليابانية في العالم، حيث تطلبه الجامعات والمؤسسات الأكاديمية لتقييم مستوى الطلاب غير الناطقين باللغة اليابانية.
يُعقد اختبار الكفاءة في اللغة اليابانية في عدد من المدن في اليابان، بالإضافة إلى عدد من المدن الأخرى حول العالم. أمّا المدن العربية التي يعقد فيها هذا الامتحان فهي:
الجزائر العاصمة،
الخرطوم في السودان،
القاهرة وبرج العرب الجديدة في مصر،
الرباط في المغرب،
عمان في الأردن،
الدوحة في قطر،
الرياض وجدة في السعودية
يحتوي على 5 مستويات: N5 هو المبتدئ وN1 هو المتقدّم، والشهادة صالحة دائما لا تنتهي صلاحيتها.

■ مواعيد الاختبار:
- أول أحد من يوليو سنوياً
- أول أحد من ديسمبر سنوياً
في بعض الدول يقام الاختبار مرة واحد سنويا: اما في أول أحد من يوليو سنوياً أو في أول أحد من ديسمبر سنوياً.

لا يوجد امتحان شفوي ( no speaking )
Scoring sections and range of scores for each level
Test results are given according to scoring sections in the table below.
N1, N2 and N3 have three scoring sections: Language Knowledge (Vocabulary/Grammar)," “Reading” and “Listening.”
N4 and N5 have two scoring sections: “Language Knowledge (Vocabulary/Grammar)・Reading” and “Listening.”

Determination of pass/fail
In order to pass,
(1) total score needs to be at or above the point required for passing (overall pass mark)
and (2) score in each scoring section needs to be at or above the minimum point required for passing (sectional pass mark).
If there is even one scoring section where the score is below the sectional pass mark, examinees are determined to have failed, no matter how high the total score he/she might have.
Scoring sections of N1-N3 and N4-N5 are different.
Overall pass marks and sectional pass marks for each level are shown in the table below.
